The therapeutic garden idea is wonderful indeed and we hope that it will be a place of tranquillity and peace. It would be lovely to see some photos once the garden has been completed.

Thank you for the comment about our Combat Stress therapeutic garden. It is much appreciated. The plants are now awaiting their final destination in their holding beds at Tyrwhitt House, Combat Stress' headquarters. We hope that garden will finally be installed in March 2010. The reaction of the public at the show was simply amazing; it was a real honour to be involved in its creation.

Cannot seem to find much out about the idea of sponsoring a pane but will post here if I do. It seems a simple solution and something a lot of people in the horticultural, botanical, environmental and gardening etc fields would be interested in. Will keep searching for progress on Kew's future.

Think that sponsoring a pane of glass for Kew is really good - is there any other information on this idea? I also agree that as Kew is a world heritage site more could be done to save its glasshouses.

Nemesia is a beautiful plant and comes in so many colours it looks fab but what pleases me more is that nurseries are bringing back the scents of the flowers - how sad that many flowers and plants have had the scent bred out of them - just so we can have bigger, longer lasting flowers. It is great news and particularly good for gardeners that want the aroma of flowers back in the garden. I definitely do not want a vuvusala though! Any luck sourcing stockists.

It is good to hear evidence that the reduction in bee numbers is slowing down. We tend in the UK to be good conservationists and as gardeners most of us are very proud of our garden displays. This year I have mixed borders growing crops between flower/plant displays. The garden looks magnificent and is visited by many buzzing bees

Love it or hate it the South African Vuvusala has become a real talking point - but I agree with you that Nemesia is a great plant to come from the area. Having seen Nemesia in all its glory and smelt its gorgeous scent I want to try to grow it in my garden now I know it will survive in our colder climate - the problem is I am having trouble finding stockists. Will keep trying and let you know.

Was amazed and shocked at this post - did not realise that bees had such an intricate part to play in the conservation of the environment and our survival. Thought it also interesting that after reading this post, the government announced they are reviewing 'garden grabbing' in the UK. We are definitely losing a lot of natural habitat for our wildlife - some of the planting suggestions for gardeners are great - we should all be doing our bit. I am growing lavender in pots and I am certainly looking out for the bees that are around the garden (especially those mentioned by the bumble bee conservation trust).

[...] This is a difficult fruit to attempt – but if successful it really will prove your gardening prowess. Getting hold of the seeds may be troublesome so (check bought Sharon fruits) and if there is a seed you will know you are a lucky gardener to try this. Start it in your greenhouse but Sharon Fruit is a tree so it will need replanting outside if it establishes well. This is a gardener’s challenge and for all your efforts may result in no fruit. We would love to hear your success stories. Let us know here.
